First Analysis in VT Planner
Step-by-step guide to create a VT Planner project, save a building, configure an elevator setup, run the first analysis, and review the saved result and its inputs.
This is the shortest path from an empty project to a result whose inputs you can verify.
Step by Step
- Go to
Projectsand selectCreate project. - Fill in
Project nameand, if needed,Description. - After the project opens, go to the
Buildingtab. - Complete
Building basics: name, type, upper floors, and basements. - Review the
Floor table: entrances, bias, heights, and population by floor. - Select
Save building. - Go to
Elevator setupsand create aFixed setup. - Complete
Setup details,Group definition,Motion profile,Doors,Passenger transfer, and theService model. - Save the configuration with
Save setup. - Go to
Analysis, select the setup, chooseCalculation, and confirmDemand used. - Select
Run calculation. - Open the result and verify the building, setup, scenario, and metrics in the report.
- Return to
Analysisand run aSimulationof the same demand when you need passenger queues, dispatch behavior, or time distributions.
Unlock Rules
VT Planner unlocks the flow in stages:
- without a saved building,
Elevator setupsandAnalysisremain blocked; - without a saved elevator setup, you cannot run an analysis;
- if you change the building after saving a setup, that setup may be marked as
Outdated; - if an analysis in this project is
QueuedorRunning, another run cannot start in the project until it finishes or is cancelled; - account access and active-job limits can also block a launch;
- an open or stale Advanced demand draft must be cancelled, corrected, or applied before a simulation can launch.
Expected Result
When finished, you should see:
- a saved building with
Building savedstatus; - an elevator setup with
Setup readystatus; - a run in
Run history; - a saved scenario snapshot and embedded report for a completed result;
- actions such as
Run again,Download audit data, andExport PDFwhen supported.
